PodcastSA over the past 2 years or so has become THE resource for podcasting in South Africa.? Complete with its directory of SA podcasts, it is a great stepping stone to find out more about what podcasting has to offer and even how to create one.? It was the brainchild of Mark Taylor together with Richard Banks as the webmaster who brought this fantastic website to life in 2005 and maintained it as the leader when it comes to anything podcasting in SA.
I am hoping to have the site redesigned to give it a fresh new look and if there is anybody out there who can help me out with that, it will be most appreciated.
Please continue to support the site by registering new podcasts and looking for new ones to listen to.? Remember that this is a site for South African podcasts so that we can promote local is lekker as well as put South African on the map in the international podisphere.
Due to circumstances out of their control, they are no longer able to maintain the website, manage new podcasts coming in, etc.? Since Mark lives in the UK, he felt that he was losing touch with podcasting in SA and so it was decided that the website together with the domain all be handed over to me, Glen Verran.
My aim is to keep the website alive and kicking for many years to come and to keep up the reputation of it being the one stop shop for everything podcasting in SA.? Whether you are looking for a South African podcast to listen to or a springboard on getting into podcasting, this site is to serve that purpose.? This site is for the SA podcasting community.
My name is Glen Verran, host and producer of The ZA Show Podcast.? I am also going to, from time to time, write a few posts on the PodcastSA blog as well.
The big news in the SA new media space is that PodCamp is coming to Cape Town.? PodCamp originated in Boston, MA in 2006 with awesome success with PodCamps that have been held all around the world.? Now it is Cape Town’s turn.
Announced late June, early July already, PodCampCapeTown will be taking place on Saturday, 20th of October 2007 at The Wild Fig in Obvervatory, Cape Town.
PodCamp follows in the footsteps of BarCamp, which is a community driven unconference.? PodCamp is all about New Media and we want to see you there!? Whether you are a podcast producer, listener, blogger, internet TV viewer and producer and anything and everything New Media - comsuming of new media or creating it, you have to be there and believe me, it is going to be a blast.? Mix with some of South Africans top new media minds and enjoy a day full of social interaction and networking, presentations on new media, and many more.
And most of all, it is FREE to attend.
Come and join us for PodCampCapeTown.? Visit http://www.podcampcapetown.com and sign up on the wiki right away.? See the website for all the details and for more information.? Sign up now, you WON’T regret it.
To the thousands of adoring PodcastSA fans (well hey, two of you contacted me), it is good to be back. The long, dark night of silence was a combination of problems. I moved country, my web provider reseller did a wheels-up, and Richard, my valiant web guru has been on a work experience in Cyprus.
But he has managed to get an older copy of the site back up and running on a new web server - his in fact. So thanks to Richard and Datapoint for all the help. We will try and get things back up to speed, bring in some long-needed updates, and try to get better.
PodcastSA has an ad server and our local podcasters are invited to submit their ad for free. All that is needed is a 200×80 graphic, which promotes your podcast plus some simple info.
It will be included in the rotation of ads which display on every page of the newly redesigned website. Additional info required with your artwork, is show name, show owner, contact email address, URL for your website, shownotes or blog associated with your podcast. Send to .
